Why Does Blogging Seem So Damn Hard?

I mean, it isn’t really. At least, it shouldn’t be.  I write stuff every day: reviews, emails longer than Gilgamesh, short stories and novels, and never bat an eye about doing it.  But ask me to write a new blog for my homepage . . . and suddenly writing seems a burden.  Why?

Probably because I feel like each blog on the homepage — as opposed to on my blog page or Howls & Growls — has to be “perfect.”  It needs to be meaningful and profound.  It needs to have no typos or other errors.  It has to address profound issues or, at the least, be a more personal review (Not What You Expected) or a tribute (Harryhausen films).

Well, as Jack Burton (Big Trouble in Little China) would say, “Screw it!”  (Well, okay, Jack’s language would have been a bit harsher.)  Updating my homepage is more important than being “perfect” every time.  From now on, I’ll try to do better – a blog a week.  Maybe more.

Maybe I’ll even start running those “less important” reviews here.  What do you think?  Would that draw more eyes to the page?  Would it make you more likely to read it?  Or do you like this blog relatively free of SyFy Channel program reviews and other “clutter?”  (Hey, at least I’m not putting wrestling on my blog!)

Let me know what you think.  Why not take the direct method and comment on this very post?
